As pickleball in Centennial continues to grow in popularity and demand, the City is aware of potential impacts to residential areas in close proximity of outdoor pickleball courts. According to readily available information and research, outdoor pickleball noise is unlike and more impactful than noise created by other forms of outdoor recreational activities. To specifically address noise concerns and complaints from residents, many local governments have researched and enacted distance and noise abatement requirements for outdoor pickleball courts.
The City worked with a noise consultant to better understand potential issues to determine if new noise regulations are necessary to preserve the sound environment in our neighborhoods. View the Pickleball Noise Impact study(PDF, 12MB) provided by Spendiarian & Willis Acoustics & Noise Control.
While Ordinance No. 2023-O-03 was in effect to study the various impacts of pickleball, the City initiated a comment board available where people shared comments about pickleball in Centennial.
Please note, this was not a discussion forum and the City did not respond to the comments.
