Playtesting an Experience with James Lopez

Headshot of James Lopez

Playtesting is a method experience designers use throughout the entire design process to gain insights into whether or not the experience is achieving the intended goals. This lesson will explain key concepts of playtesting and how to apply it to creating an experience for your customers or employees. We will cover the history and different types of playtesting as well as how to design an effective playtest. We will unpack real world examples to better understand how the process works and the benefits they provide to your goals.

James Lopez is a magician and immersive creator based in Denver, CO. In 2019, he founded The Exposure Project, a production company that explores minimalistic immersive experiences through magic, storytelling, technology, and sensorial experiences. James creates original theater productions and partners with various organizations to develop theories and practices to build scalable business models that benefit creators and produce policy changes that favor artistic collaborations. He is an Odyssey Works Fellow and former RiNo No Vacancy Artist Resident and throws a mean after-hours conference party.
