The Centennial City Council consists of nine elected officials including the Mayor.
The Mayor represents the citizens at large. The other eight members are composed of two representatives from each of the City's four districts.

The Bylaws and Rules of Procedure are a City Council Policy that provides guidance on how City Council conducts its business, establishes agendas and maintains order during meetings. The Bylaws outline the roles of presiding officers, and provide procedures for different types of meetings, the agenda preparation, voting, public hearings, and the creation of Council subcommittees among other topics.

The City Council Code of Conduct represents a shared commitment to working together for the betterment of the Centennial community and provide effective governance for the City. The Code of Conduct is to be used with the Home Rule Charter, the Centennial Municipal Code, Council Bylaws and Procedures and other adopted policies.

The Home Rule Charter affirms the principle of self-determination that was central to the City’s founding. As the City's guiding document, the Charter establishes framework for Centennial's government and outlines expectations for our residents including: who represents them, when and how Council meetings are conducted, how grievances may be addressed and the City Council-Manager form of government. Residents are encouraged to read and understand the Charter and its importance to the community.

The Legislative Policy Statement outlines the City's positions on legislative matters before federal, state and local governments. It also establishes procedures that guide City Council and staff’s actions in support of positions taken.

The Municipal Code provides the framework for governing the City and establishes detailed requirements for City operations. It outlines how Council takes action, the structure of the government, taxation and financial oversight, and standards for public officials through the Code of Ethics. The Code also addresses business licensing, development and the maintenance of public infrastructure. Amendments to the Municipal Code require City Council action by ordinance with a public hearing.
