Get to Know Council Member Robyn Carnes
District 1 Council Member Robyn Carnes, and her husband, Jay, have called Centennial home since moving from Iowa in 2003. Centennial’s young, vibrant and innovative energy in metro Denver enticed the Carnes’ to locate here. In addition to the affordable appeal of a first home option while still being a close commute to downtown. Financially sound, fiscally responsible, and with limited government—all principles she is a big fan of. The Carnes’ are grateful to have landed in Centennial and are enjoying life with their two sons and 84 lb. canine named Samson. Feeling the call to government in 2021, with a belief that local government is the most impactful—neighborhoods impact cities, which impact counties and, in turn, influence the state, nation and world—running for Centennial City Council was a logical first step for Council Member Carnes. She hopes to be a voice for District 1 and all of Centennial’s citizens. Focusing on what’s best for Centennial and the people, not an agenda, is her goal while ensuring all follow the proper role of government.
In addition to her service as a District 1 Council Member, Robyn Carnes contracts and consults through her business, More Than Funds, with 12 years of experience in meeting facilitation consultancy for Leadership Strategies. This experience assisting with meeting structure, direction and efficiencies are strengths she brings to the Centennial Boards and Commissions to which she’s assigned. A graduate from the University of Northern Iowa, Robyn holds a B.A. in Music Education and an M.A. from Denver Seminary. In addition, Council Member Carnes enjoys running, attending her children’s sporting events, and, of course, a good cup of coffee!
