Get to Know Council Member Robyn Carnes

Embracing Centennial as their home since 2003, District 1 Council Member Robyn Carnes and her husband Jay were captivated by the City's youthful, vibrant and innovative energy within the Denver metro area. Attracted to the diverse array of housing options and the City's proximity to downtown, the Carnes family is grateful to call Centennial home, enjoying life with their two sons and their 84 lb. canine companion, Samson. Aspiring to be a voice for District 1 and the entire Centennial community, Robyn is committed to focusing on what is best for the City, steering clear of personal agendas, and ensuring adherence to the proper role of government. Advocating for financial soundness, fiscal responsibility and limited government in her first term, Robyn also prioritizes public safety and takes proactive steps to address homelessness through collaborative public and private partnerships, including the Faith Council and exploring avenues such as corporate social responsibility. Feeling the call to government in 2021, Robyn recognizes the profound impact of local government, acknowledging the notion that neighborhoods shape cities, influencing counties, states, nations and the world.

Beyond her civic service, Robyn manages More Than Funds, a business dedicated to growing human performance, leveraging 13 years of experience in meeting facilitation consultancy for Leadership Strategies. Her expertise in meeting structure, direction and efficiencies positions her as an effective liaison to various Centennial commissions and committees, including the Senior Commission, Youth Commission, Faith Council, Futures Committee, Audit Committee, and South Metro Fire & Rescue District. A University of Northern Iowa graduate with a B.A. in Music Education and an M.A. from Denver Seminary, Robyn balances her civic duties with personal interests, enjoying running, attending her children’s sporting events, and delighting in a good cup of coffee!
