1. Overview

Getting Ready for 2026! Neighborhood Services will be hosting two Community Improvement Grant Informational Sessions in February to assist communities in preparing their proposals for the Large Community Improvement Grants. The Community Improvement Grant Informational Sessions will be held on Tuesday, February 10 and Thursday, February 12 at 7 p.m. at the Centennial Public Works building (7272 S. Eagle St.) in the community conference room. The informational session is not a requirement for the submittal of the grant application.

The Large Community Improvement Grant supports larger-scale improvements to neighborhoods. Groups may apply for up to $10,000 per project for community based improvements, including but not limited to neighborhood signage, landscaping improvements, place making and community gardens.

2. Key Details

  • Participants are required to meet with the Neighborhood Services Manager prior to submitting the grant application
  • Recipients of the grant must complete projects within the City of Centennial
  • Projects are intended to improve conditions of common areas of the community and are intended to be enjoyed by the public
  • Proposed projects must be approved by the property owner, controlling entity and must adhere to city codes and regulations
  • A minimum of two residents who reside at different locations are required to act as leads for the community for the duration of the project
  • Applicants have agreed to place a plaque at the location to commemorate the coordination between the residents and the City of Centennial
  • Participants will be required to submit photographs of the proposed improvement before and after completion of the project

3. Grant Timeline

  • February 10 and February 12: Attend a Community Improvement Grant Informational Sessions
  • February/March: Discuss project with Neighborhood Services Manager and receive bids for proposed work
  • April 1 (11:59 p.m.): Deadline to submit project proposal
  • May: Grants awards to recipients
  • October: All projects completed 

Project Proposals are being accepted February 13 through April 1, 2026.

4. Submit a Project Proposal: Checklist

  • You must meet with the Neighborhood Services Manager prior to project submittal. Applicants that have not met with Neighborhood Services will not be considered for the 2025 grant program
  • A detailed description of the proposed project, its impact on the community and how this will further our goals of community improvement, engagement and beautification
  • Date, time and location of proposed event
  • How this proposed project will be communicated to and agreed upon by residents
  • Name and contact information of payee or representative providing receipts for purchases to City
  • Describe the volunteers/organization proposing the project
  • Permits: Is an amplified sound permit needed? Will streets need to be closed? All licenses and permits must be completed according to City guidelines. Associated fees will be waived

  • Photos of proposed area
  • Proposed timeline
  • Proposed budget
  • Contractors must be licensed to work in the City of Centennial
  • Volunteer coordinators contact information
  • Contractors must carry required insurance
  • Ownership information & approval
  • Quotes from a minimum of three contractors for each portion of the proposed project

6. Projects That Do Not Qualify

  • Projects that are on private property
  • Projects that are not visible to the public
  • Projects submitted by HOA’s and Metro districts that are still managed by developer
  • Projects that have already begun prior to the awarding of the grant funding
  • Projects associated with educational, religious or political organizations
  • Projects that do not adhere to City codes and regulations
