Centennial Launches New Educational Website to Help Residents Understand the City Budget Pressures

The City of Centennial launched yourcitybudget.co, a new educational website designed to help residents better understand how the City budget works, the financial pressures the City is navigating, and the priorities being considered for the future.

As one of the largest cities in the metro area, Centennial is responsible for maintaining approximately 435 miles of paved public streets, 92 traffic signals (most between 25 and 40 years old), nearly 30 miles of bike lanes, and 94 bridges — much of it inherited at the City’s incorporation 25 years ago.

“Aging infrastructure, increasing costs, and flattening sales tax revenue are affecting the City’s ability to maintain and improve this aging infrastructure,” said Mayor Christine Sweetland. “As City Council discusses Centennial’s fiscal stability, there’s no better time to invite residents to participate in planning for our future.”

The new site walks visitors through four key topics:

  • Budget Reality — how Centennial generates revenue and funds essential services
  • Financial Pressures — why slower sales tax growth is creating real challenges
  • Future Priorities — the case for investing in a sustainable transportation network
  • Sustainable Solution — long-term ideas being explored for the Street Fund

Residents can also take a Quick Poll on the homepage and answer questions through a community input form. The site is part of a broader community engagement effort rolling out this spring and summer. Residents can explore the new educational resource at yourcitybudget.co.
