Get to Know Council Member Durrell Middleton
District 4 Council Member Durrell Middleton is a longtime Centennial resident whose leadership is shaped by service, entrepreneurship and a deep commitment to community. Born on the south side of Chicago, he was raised by a mother who instilled a strong work ethic and an unwavering belief in the power of education. These values led him to an appointment at West Point, where he embraced the principles of duty, honor and country before earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois. Durrell and his wife made Centennial their home in 1999, where they have raised their children, Marcus and Jasmine, in one of the nation’s top school districts.
Durrell is the founder of three Centennial-based businesses spanning information technology, property management and sports entertainment with the Colorado Kings. His entrepreneurial background is complemented by extensive community engagement, including volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club, leading anti-bullying programs, mentoring at youth detention centers and serving on numerous community and nonprofit boards. His service as a Deacon, Stephen Minister, Kids Hope Mentor, and youth band participant reflects his commitment to building strong relationships and supporting residents of all ages. His goals for his first term will build on his belief in opportunity, safety and community—prioritizing smart housing strategies, strong support for local businesses and continued investment in public safety.
When he’s not working or volunteering for his fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi, Durrell enjoys boating, biking and (true to his Chicago roots) following the highs and lows of his hometown sports teams. He brings a spirit of leadership, resilience and neighborly connection to his service on the Centennial City Council.
