Safety Action Plan

death and serious injuries are unacceptable; humans make mistakes; humans are vulnerable; responsibility is shared; safety is proactive; redundancy is crucial; safer roads; safer speeds; safer people; safer vehicles; post-crash care

Everyone should feel safe on our streets, regardless of age or ability or how they get around. With this goal in mind, the City has developed and adopted a Safety Action Plan (SAP) to improve transportation safety for all users whether walking, biking, using a mobility device, taking transit or driving.

The plan was made possible through a $220,000 federal Safe Streets and Roads for All grant, with an additional $55,000 contributed by the City. The Safety Action Plan reflects an in-depth community engagement, data analysis and collaboration with transportation safety experts. The Centennial Safety Action Plan aligns with the City’s Transportation Master Plan and other City standards and programs. It has a “Vision Zero” approach with the goal of eliminating traffic-related fatalities by 2040 and serious injuries by 2045. It provides a framework for prioritizing projects, guiding investments and creating safer, more accessible streets for everyone.
