Centennial Finance Recognized for Excellence

The City of Centennial has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its 2023 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition awarded and represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

This Certificate of Achievement in Financial Reporting reflects Centennial’s commitment to transparency and accountability. The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report consists of all the City’s financial activities including government wide financial statements, independent auditor’s report, statements of revenues, expenditures and changes in fund balance for each of the City’s funds. All financial data is available in this report. More information is available on the City website.

“This recognition highlights Centennial’s dedication to financial transparency and strong fiscal policies," said City Manager Matt Sturgeon. "Fiscal sustainability remains a key strategic goal, and our City staff works diligently to ensure responsible financial management. We are fortunate to have a skilled and dedicated team overseeing the City’s finances and budget."

The Report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential readers of the annual finance report.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 20,000 government finance professionals with offices in the United States and Canada.
