Havana and Easter Intersection Improvement Project
Overview
The City plans to make operational intersection improvements at S. Havana St. and E. Easter Ave. This project will update the current intersection layout with a displaced left turn design, which allows left-turning vehicles to cross opposing traffic before reaching the intersection. These enhancements are intended to reduce delays, improve traffic flow and enhance safety along with pedestrian and bicycle improvements.
This project was selected for funding by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) as part of the 2024-2027 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

Construction is anticipated to begin in Q4 2026.
Project Benefits
Implementing a modified displaced left intersection would enable smoother travel from S. Havana St. to key destinations and employment centers, resulting in shorter commute times. Current congestion on Arapahoe Rd. causes delays and increased emissions as vehicles queue near I-25, especially during peak hours, increasing the need to provide an east-west alternate route for commuters. These improvements will strengthen Easter Ave. and Broncos Pkwy. to meet that need.
