There has been an increase in fraudulent unemployment claims associated with COVID-19. If you receive a Reliacard debit card or other paperwork from CDLE and have not filed a claim, report it to the State.

Food Delivery Service Available to Access-a-Ride Customers

You are still able to book trips for essential purposes, including to purchase groceries. However, beginning March 30, they will offer grocery pickup to your home from the following locations:· King Soopers · Safeway · Community Ministry Southwest food bank · Senior Hub Senior Solutions · Adams County Food Bank. Colorado Food Assistance

COVID-19 has created a crisis situation for many individuals and families. The State of Colorado created this page to keep Coloradans up-to-date on changes to Food Assistance programs through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), as well as Food Distribution Programs through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. If you have questions, please contact your local SNAP office.

Salvation Army Food Assistance

The Salvation Army offers free food assistance through their food pantry at 3900 E. Arapahoe Road Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This service is available to the general public and does not require advance registration.

Food deliveries: The Salvation Army is also offering food deliveries to those folks who are most vulnerable and/or unable to get out to the grocery store. Right now, they set aside Wednesdays for deliveries, unless someone has an emergency and needs something outside of this day.

Project Angel Heart - Specialized Meals

Project Angel Heart provides nutritious meals, free of charge, for individuals living with a life-threatening illness. These meals are delivered directly to your home and play an important role in health and quality of life. Each meal is made with each  individual's health in mind, and when combined with a prescribed health regimen, may reduce the risk of complications and improve health. Nourish Meals on Wheels

Nourish Meals on Wheels (formerly TLC Meals on Wheels) strives to enrich the lives of seniors and homebound adults in the south metro Denver area by providing nutritious meals and services that promote dignity, well-being and independence.

Housing

Housing and Utility Assistance

The City of Centennial has allocated $205,192 with the primary goal being to keep families in their homes, preventing loss of housing by assisting with utility/rent/mortgage assistance for households with income up to 80 percent of AMI (Area Median Income).

Heat and Energy Assistance

The Arapahoe County Heat and Energy Assistance program offers low-income energy assistance and weatherization assistance to residents in Centennial.

The Salvation Army also has programs offering assistance with rent and/or utilities for those in need. Appointments to discuss financial assistance can be made by calling their connections center at 303-295-3366.

Housing Assistance

The Arapahoe County Housing Assistance Program is available to all Centennial residents. There is no age requirement to receive assistance. All assistance is provided free of charge.

Human Services Support

The Arapahoe County Department of Human Services provides financial assistance and protective services to children, families and elderly and disabled adults in the City of Centennial.

Cherry Creek Schools Emergency Relief Fund

The Cherry Creek Schools Foundation in coordination with the district, has established the Cherry Creek Schools Emergency Relief Fund to aid their students, families and local communities during this crisis. Learn more on the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation website.

CVS is offering free delivery of prescriptions and everyday essential items. Fill your prescription on CVS.com or call the pharmacist to get started.

Grocery shopping and prescription pick-up assistance is available for seniors 60 and those with disability. To learn about eligibility and sign up, call and leave a message. A staff person will return your call as soon as possible.

Senior Check In Program - The Senior Check In program enables a member of the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office to check on and learn about the well-being of isolated seniors.

The State Unit on Aging offers support resources, information on caregiver support, legal, nutrition and more. Learn about programs managed through the CDHS State Unit on Aging.

Tips to Protect Yourself

The FCC offers the following tips to help you protect yourself from scams, including coronavirus scams:

• Do not respond to calls or texts from unknown numbers, or any others that appear suspicious.
• Never share your personal or financial information via email, text messages, or over the phone.
• Be cautious if you’re being pressured to share any information or make a payment immediately.
• Scammers often spoof phone numbers to trick you into answering or responding. Remember that government agencies will never call you to ask for personal information or money.
• Do not click any links in a text message. If a friend sends you a text with a suspicious link that seems out of character, call them to make sure they weren't hacked.
• Always check on a charity (for example, by calling or looking at its actual website) before donating

Colorado Spirit Crisis Counseling Program

The Colorado Spirit Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) is designed to support individuals and communities impacted by the challenges of COVID-19. The program aims to promote recovery, resilience, and empowerment while strengthening existing community support systems by helping with the emotional needs of survivors and those affected by the pandemic.

All services are free and anonymous! The CCP has 18 community service providers across the state who are ready to support and help you with:

• Understanding, managing and reducing stress. 
• Developing coping strategies. 
• Connection to community resources and other relief services. 
• Providing education and information to address the unique challenges of COVID-19. 
• Assisting and reviewing recovery options.

The Salvation Army in Centennial offers Emotional and Spiritual Care to anyone who needs someone to talk to or pray with over the phone – especially those who are shut in. Reach the Salvation Army at 303-779-9662.

Cherry Creek School District (CCSD) Healthline

The CCSD Healthline is available to in-district families between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, during the statewide school closure. Families can call 720-554-HLTH (4584) to speak with a Cherry Creek Schools registered nurse or mental health professional.

Do you have questions about taking care of pets during this pandemic?

Currently, there is not evidence that animals spread COVID-19, and the risk of pets spreading COVID-19 to people is low. Scientists are are still learning about this virus, but it appears that it can spread from people to animals in some situations. Consider Blood Donation

In addition to funding and volunteers, the Governor continues to encourage healthy donors to donate blood to prevent a shortage in Colorado. Coloradans can visit Vitalant.org or click here to find a blood drive or donation center in your area.

There are many essential workers out in the field working for utilities, state and local agencies and others. They are working to maintain a safe supply of electricity, gas, water and communications.

It's important to let these workers do their critical work without interference and maintain a safe social distance. These workers have clearance to work under the Governor's emergency orders.

Here’s what you can expect if you see Xcel Energy crews working in the field and how you can help:

• When interacting with customers and the public, our crews will practice social distancing to help keep all of us safe and healthy.
• We ask that you do not approach our workers. This helps maintain social distance to keep everyone safe and lets our workers concentrate on their critical jobs.
• We have suspended non-essential work that requires crews to enter homes or businesses. But in some emergency cases, such as to relight appliance pilot lights if natural gas service is disrupted, a worker may need to enter your home or business.

What to expect if an Xcel Energy employee needs to enter your home or business:

• First, know that any Xcel Energy worker who comes to your home is taking precautions, as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
• When the worker arrives, they will ask if anyone in your home is sick and ask them to remain in a separate part of the house while our work is being completed.
• To ensure everyone’s health and safety, employees will not shake hands and will maintain a social distance of at least six feet. Our worker may wear personal protective gear, such as gloves, safety glasses or coveralls.
• They may also use disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer.
