Broncos Youth Grant Program, Apply Today!

Due to the sale of the Broncos Football Team, the City of Centennial is offering $900,000 in grant funding to support youth activity programs. The Metropolitan Football Stadium District was required to share a portion of the sale proceeds with local governments allowing the City to offer this opportunity. 

Any projects seeking $10,000 or more require City Council approval. The funding received by the City was a one-time influx and therefore this grant program is not expected to continue indefinitely.

The City is accepting applications for the Broncos Youth Activity Grant Program on a continual basis until funding is expended. Applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis.


Goals For the Funds

Centennial City Council approved Resolution No. 2023-R-18(PDF, 529KB), establishing the goals and priorities for the City's use of the Denver Broncos sale funds including:

  • Involve Centennial youth in leadership, civics, recreational and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) initiatives;
  • Leverage funding through other groups to provide youth with educational and practical opportunities while focusing on Centennial issues; and
  • Assist local youth program providers with matching dollars for other grant or funding programs, intending to leverage partner and City funds.

Qualifications and Eligible Projects

  • Non-profit organizations in good standing with the Colorado Secretary of State and public entities are eligible for funding.
  • Applicants must clearly demonstrate how the project or initiative is meeting the stated goals above.
  • Applicants must demonstrate how capital projects will be maintained over time.
  • Applicants are required to clearly demonstrate and document benefit to Centennial youth. The applicant may also be required to demonstrate commitment from other communities served.
  • Capital projects and initiatives must be one-time investments or pilot programs unless the requesting entity can demonstrate a path to long-term, sustainable success, i.e., significant external partnership funding or a clear path to long-term financial sustainability.
  • Ongoing operational/maintenance costs will not be considered.
  • Preference will be given to applications for new projects that have not been previously considered.
  • Boy Scout Eagle, Girl Scout Gold or other similar projects may be considered with documented support from the organization up to $1,000.
  • Groups or programs that discriminate based on race, color, gender, religion, disability, sexual orientation, marital status or national origin are not eligible for funding.

Funding Available

  • Organizations may apply for and receive a maximum of $200,000 for capital projects and a maximum of $100,000 for other initiatives.
  • Organizations that seek over $100,000 are required to demonstrate 10% matching funds from non-City sources.
  • Organizations that receive under $10,000 in funding receive an upfront disbursement of funds and are required to submit a summary describing use of funds and outcomes.
  • Organizations that receive $10,000 or more are reimbursed upon submittal of a final report, which will include an executive summary detailing project activities, detailed accounting of how the grant amount was used to support the project and documentation of paid invoices. Alternative reimbursement schedules may be considered with City discretion.

Timeline

  • Projects must be completed within one year of execution of the grant agreement, or disbursement of funds for projects under $10,000.
  • Applicants for capital projects may request up to one additional year to complete the project. The approval of any extension to the allowed time frame will be granted solely at the City's discretion and is not guaranteed. Such extensions may be approved in writing by the City Manager on behalf of the City.
  • Final reports and reimbursement requests must be submitted within 30 days of project completion.
