Thank you for the continued interest in The Streets at SouthGlenn. City staff is compiling the questions and comments received during the first Community Meeting on March 19 and will share this information when available.

The process for planning the redevelopment of the Sears and Macy’s sites is just starting. Please note, the timeline for any development related to Macy’s is TBD, as Macy’s is still in business. Both businesses are going through the planning process for redevelopment but the vacant Sears building will progress sooner.

No additional meetings related to this development are currently scheduled. The City has provided initial feedback informing the developer of the process for redevelopment and the requirements according to the Land Development Code (LDC) and The Streets at SouthGlenn Master Development Agreement (MDA). There are many unknowns at this point in the redevelopment process such as impacts to traffic, schools, infrastructure and the existing retail at The Streets at SouthGlenn. These items will be studied and addressed prior to the public hearings before the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council, which have not been scheduled. A formal submittal and documents are still being developed by the developers, Northwood Ravin and Alberta Development Partners.

Public Participation in the Planning Process

It is important for the community to be informed and share feedback on the potential redevelopment and changes to the Master Development Plan. This process includes the formation of a small group of nearby neighbors who will help identify and work through issues important to the surrounding neighborhoods. They will also be knowledgeable about the project and may help inform their neighbors and surrounding areas about the project. In addition to the small group, residents will have an opportunity to provide feedback during two community meetings and through an online survey. Residents are also welcome to attend the public hearings before the City’s Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council. The dates of these meetings are posted at the bottom of this page.

Master Development Plan

In 2007, the City approved a Master Development Plan for The Streets at SouthGlenn which outlines rules about what can be built at this location. The development group for The Streets at SouthGlenn, Alberta Development Partners and Northwood Ravin, are proposing to make changes to the Master Development Plan to allow for redevelopment of the Sears building and ensure that future development opportunities remain viable and are adaptable to the changing retail environment. Any amendments to the approved Master Development Plan must go to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council for consideration.
