A thriving Centennial company has earned two Small Business Awards from the Denver Business Journal.

Mobile Solutions, 10731 E. Easter Ave., was selected for the honor in the “extra-large company” and “family-owned” categories on the 2018 list, which was announced last month.

Mobile Solutions provides full life-cycle mobility management, including a SaaS portal to manage expenses and offering 24/7 service-desk troubleshooting for mobile devices — including tablets and smart phones — for companies large and small. Its clients include SpaceX, the Elon Musk-owned provider of space launch services; Barney’s, a clothing, shoe and handbag designer and retail outlet; and Vulcan, a philanthropic-minded firm owned by Paul Allen that finds solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges.

The much-deserved recognition for Mobile Solutions from the Denver Business Journal comes on the heels of an announcement in May that the company was named the top tech startup in Centennial by the Tech Tribune. Mobile Solutions also has garnered attention for being a great place to work. The DBJ cited employee perks such as food truck Fridays and bring-your-dog-to-work days as some of the factors that led to the recent Small Business Award.

The award “reaffirms what we’re trying to do here,” said Jim and Kim Johnson, Co-Founders of Mobile Solutions, who credit their team of 85 employees for turning the company into a renowned source for managed mobility services. The staff provides the top-notch customer service that’s crucial to retaining customers and growing its client base, they said.

In the late 2000s, one of the biggest complaints from large businesses was the exorbitant cost of cell phones. Employees of companies with multi-user plans would often exceed the limits of the company phone plans, leading to higher costs, and there was no tool set to manage them. That’s when the Johnsons stepped in.

Since 2011, Mobile Solutions has enjoyed a minimum of 42-percent growth year-over-year, and in January it finished a physical expansion, enlarging its office at Easter Avenue and Havana Street to 15,000 square-feet. The company is also planning to add another 35-40 employees in the near future and will expand their product offering, including technology-expense management.
