In 2010 Centennial acquired 50 percent ownership of 107 acres of open space along Cherry Creek in partnership with Parker Jordan Metro District (PJMD).

This acquisition made it possible to complete one of the last significant links in the 40-mile Cherry Creek Regional Trail which extends from downtown Denver to Castlewood Canyon State Park in Douglas County. This open space, together with the Cherry Creek Valley Eco-Park and 17-Mile Park, form a regionally significant network of natural areas where the public can enjoy the Cherry Creek eco-system and natural history. Construction of the Bronco’s Parkway Trailhead (substantially funded by Arapahoe County and PJMD) and the Cherry Creek Regional Trail was completed in October 2010.

The Parker Jordan Metro District provides maintenance and operational support for this facility.
