Metric Definition:

The percent of live animals that leave Animal Service facilities. This measures the effectiveness of the department’s outreach efforts and provides a quality-of-life rating.

Quarterly Performance:

The live release rate for Animal Services continues to be exceptionally high. The live release rate in Quarter 4 was 98.4%, exceeding the 90% expected rate. To provide better context for this measure, staff has included the combined average of the live release rates from 5 comparable cities across the U.S. The live release rate combined average for these communities is 85%. The high live release rate in the City of Centennial can in part be attributed to the outreach efforts by Animal Services in finding homes for the animals housed within the shelters.
